Actually Chris your assembler seems to know a thing or 2.
Clips and special Acme thread screws with special"D" washers were what was used almost exclusively to secure the fenders. 
Using nuts and bolts makes assembly and particularly disassembly much more difficult.

Good points. I am having rotator surgery on my right arm so I will be giving up many duties and having the restoration company finish them for me since I'll be immobilized for 6 wks, then PT. 


One item--- instead of using the nuts and bolts to re-hang the fenders, one of the mechanics is using clips so he wont have to fumble with trying to get the nut on the bolt. Not sure if this is any big deal, but not the way it was done at the factory. I remembered disassembly, how much of a pain it was to get two wrenches on each attachment. 

Some days I feel the reassembly is going so slow, I forget how tough of a job it is. On the other hand, I don't want to pay for time wasted since this is their first Healey. They have done thousands of restorations, and each car is unique. 


I'm going there tomorrow to have them estimate the labor needed to finish the project and hope to be at the finish line soon!!

If it was an original car, and all the parts were properly restored and sorted I would budget 40 hours.. 
Add to that any time to clean up threads, find missing parts, clean and paint all those little (and larger) bits, repair all the damaged harness connectors, research where things fit (particularly if you haven't assembled one before or even recently), endlessly sort through fasteners to find one more "correct" hex bolt or narrow section lock washer, etc, etc.

Remember that car is at least 56 years old and many many parts of it will require work before they can be reused.

I have over 200 hours of body shell reassembly on #174 after paint not including mechanical, interior or top.

You can do it quick or you can do it right but not both.

How long is a piece of string? Very difficult to put a time on all that. It can take an age to line up all the panels correctly and hang the doors so the latches work perfectly. Are they all the same panel parts that came off the car? Windshield, lights, grill and bumpers are all simple and you can do those yourself.

The biggest issue is that shit don't go back in reverse order, no matter what the manual says.  Seriously,  the issues of time resolve around the stuff you discovery that need to be fixed, or having a third hand handy when need it.
