I have a clicker by Proto and a beam style. The good thing is the beam style never needs re-calibrating... the bad thing is you cannot see exactly where the pointer is when you are pulling hard as you are tightening the head nuts.

Subject: Re: [Healeys] Torque Wrench

I have used a beam type wrench for decades.I have an old long handled click wrench that broke a long time ago, but makes for a great breaker par due to it's length. BTW I need to re-torque my head and adjust my valves, so this discussion has been interesting. It's been way too long since I have done this work on my car.CheersIra Erbs
