[Healeys] Packing Plate

As some of you know I started my BN2 restoration with a bare rolling chassis.  I did not have a trunk lid, so I have a question. The Moss catalog mentions a packing plate under the lock mechanism inside the trunk.  Is this just a piece of steel plate with through holes or is it made of something else? Of course, no one sells it, but it would not be hard to make if I knew what it is made of.
