Hi Per,
Sealed Beam lights were not introduced in 1954. The British Pre Focus Bulbs (Imperial) were standard these times. In France there was the law to have yellow/amber headlights on te cars. I can only assume they used Phillips bi-focus lights/bulbs in amber as it was common for tthe French market.

I think the word Duplo explains it all, it's a bulb with two filaments,
as opposed to the sealed beam lights that were so common in the U.S (I
think it was even forbidden to have anything else). It doesn't
necessarily have to be yellow/Amber.
