Attached are some photos of the plugs I just took out of my car. It has been
running great until today. It was sluggish on acceleration, would not go above
50 mph and would not maintain speed. I put some oil in the rear carb dash pot
but same thing. Finally I pulled the plugs. The photos show their condition.
Number 6 is covered in a whitish powder. Number is also white but not as
thick. Number 4 is a little better and has a piece of stuff stuck in the gap.
Numbers 3, 2 & 1 are brownish and seem to be better as you go towards number
1.
Could the crud on number 4 cause the others to look as they do? Could this
cause the engine to behave as it does?
I thought maybe it was fuel but I put about 12 gallons of fresh fuel in with
no change. I have a facet fuel pump in series with my SU. It has been in for a
few miles without incident. I thought it might need to be primed so I did that
without any change. Should I bypass the facet to see if that helps?
For the listers I know the pictures will be stripped out. If someone would
like to see them, let me know.
Thanks for your help.
