[Healeys] Door glass replacement

I'm replacing my BJ8 door glass, and I've removed the old glass from the
frames.
I'm assuming that I'll have to remove the rivets at the bottom of the
front edge to replace the plastic guides, because they seem to be captive in
the frame. I'm wondering whether the two frame pieces should be fitted to the
glass before riveting them back together...that way they should  fit the
windows properly.
Thoughts?
