Fuel pressures are rarely clearly specified for cars with carburettors.
In general 3-4psi is fine. The use of a pressure regulator (e.g. King
Filter incl. filter) is preferred if you use a non standard fuel pump.
Higher pressures can cause leakage in the float valve and cause a rich
mixture or leaking float chamber. More important is the flow. Keep your
lines and filters as clean as possible. On high performance engines use
larger diameter lines and 2 or 3 filters in parallel or high capacity
filters, just to minimise resistance in the flow.
