[Healeys] Why carry spares

One of the reasons that I opted for a double ended pump was to avoid these
areas of doubt. For example, if one has 2 SUs in series and the one nearest
the tank locks up solid for whatever reason, can one be sure that it will
permit unrestricted flow to the next pump? By sure, I mean sure.....
In parallel does seem to be a better option.
Likewise, if pump A gives up for an external electrical reason (ie not
internal wiring/points etc) then isn't it very likely that pump B will give
up as well? And this will happen in series or in parallel. Hence the need
for separate wiring and, in my opinion only, separate fuses.
Hence my double ended SU.....
Of course, you can have as many pumps as you like but that won't stop things
like a semi-crushed fuel pipe giving yr engine the wobbles under max load.
Hey ho. Happy pumping.
Simon

With SU style pumps it won't.

The first pump operates normally which pressurises the diaphragm of the
second one against its spring so the points cant toggle and it just sits
there doing nothing except the occasional blip.

Andy.

Fitting /and/ operating fuel pumps in
 series will double the fuel
