[Healeys] Fw: Vanishing Coolant

I'll give that a chance and see what happens. I did not have any coolant loss
before installing what you term the expansion vessel. As for suggestions that
the radiator cap may not have enough depth, I think it hss the prescribed
dimensions. By the way, Moss terms the tube I discuss as a thermostat bypass
blanking sleeve. I found that the thermostat housing would accept a regular
thermostat with the use of s slightly thicker gasket. It sets right on top of
the sleeve, which is held in place at its top by the relief cut in the
thermostat port. I read about this online somewhere.

If one uses a expansion vessel, you have to fill up the radiator up to the
very brim. When the engine heats up air in the standard filled up radiator is
expelled trough the expansion vessel. When cooling down the coolant in the
vessel is sucked into the radiator and "disappears". However after a few times
the radiator and cooling system will have expelled all air and the radiator
will be full to the brim. From this moment on you will not "loose" any more
coolant.

If you find drops of coolant there is a leak somewhere which will
loose you coolant. Heater hose, head gasket, freeze plug???
