[Healeys] brake & clutch maste & slave cylinders

Jackson,
As I said, I have done it in the past and never encountered failures due
to subsequent excessive wear in the bores (e.g. Triumph Spitfire, DAF,
Landrover, Renault, VW etc). But then I do regularly check and change
brake fluid and I will register a drop in brake fluid level immediately.
To prevent corrosion and for lubrication in hydraulic systems I also use
plenty of Ate brake grease on the "dry side" of the bores/pistons.
After honing aluminium bores I always used to polish them with 2000
grade flower paper and metal polish and made sure the pistons were
smooth as well. Assembling hydraulic components has to be done in an
absolutely clean environment and with absolutely clean hands. It is the
ingress of dirt that causes wear, not the polishing of aluminium.
The only time I have renewed brake cylinders (cast iron or aluminium) is
when the bores were badly corroded/pitted/worn.
