Have you tried Lionel Otto's here in Brisbane? They may well already have 
the silk screen for this. They aren't that expensive (a black speedo face 
cost me about A$35.00)

Many thanks to those who have responded regarding this gauge core,

I should mention that I have about 30 safety gauge cores but unfortunately 
none with the correct Smiths model number 42638/35 on the face.

My purpose in this quest is to avoid the expense of having a reproduction 
silk screen made and to retain originality insofar as possible.
