[Healeys] Facet Pump in Series

I have installed a facet pump as a back up between my SU and the carbs. The
facet is not pumping fuel. My question is: are certain SU pumps not suitable
for being connected in series?  The electrical connections are correct (the
facet works fine when the fuel line is not attached).  Is it possible that the
Facet can't "pull" fuel through the SU?
