Could you tell us more about the waxstat with sliding sleeve? I have never
seen one of those.

Yes if you are using one of the bellows style thermostats the higher
pressure will cause the thermostat to close thus causing the engine temp to
rise.

This is why we DO NOT use them in our engines. We have the wax capsule style
thermostat with the sliding sleeve.  The bellows style thermostat is on old
school style thermostat.
