Yes, but, always in the same place 1 1/2 pushes and it's a rock. No fade if I
hold it there. I have bled the brakes twice, carefully, and no air other than
during the initial bleed. And, the brakes work, poorly. If I continue to
pump them, they don't get better. I'm thinkin' that the shoes have to travel
too far to get to the drums, further than one pump of fluid can get them to
move, but I can't get them any closer without them binding. I even took it
around the block a few times and used the brakes to center up the shoes to the
drums, but I was only able to adjust them slightly closer then.

Subject: [Healeys] Brake drum theory question
Brake drums - ugh!
When a brake drum is turned (cut), how is the drum secured to the cutting
machine? By the center hole, the lug holes, or the outside of the drum? I
think I may have some seriously out of round drums, though they were cut
(with little use since) by the previous owner. New master cylinder and
wheel cylinders, no air in the system, but I still have a long pedal travel
(firm at the bottom), but I can't get the shoes any closer without binding
on the drums. I'm thinking the drum should be cut while being held in the
same orientation as it will be used on the car, with the lug holes, yeah?
I'm also thinking that the center hole is not necessarily central to the
drum center point of the shoes, but the lug nut holes will hold the drum
exactly like it will be held by the wheel hub. Opinions.....
