The original escutcheon for the boot handle (and a replacement I bought) is
pot metal. If yours is pot metal, trying to bend it is more likely to break
it than anything. I replaced mine because the tip of the original was
already broken off when I bought the car. Fortunately, the replacement from
Sports and Classics (circa 1984) fit just fine with no gaps.

Subject: [Healeys] poor fitting trunk (BOOT) Handle
The talk about poor fitting badges, got me thinking about my poor fitting
boot handle.
I have used two gasket and still the curve has a gap. My resto guy says I
can bend it to fit (carefully). Has any one else found a way to fix the
curve issue?
