[Healeys] Radiator - fan crack

I once had a Moss 6-bladed metal fan (made in China) shed two blades while
coming home from work in my BJ8. Moss replaced it with an identical fan and
replaced the damaged radiator. A few months and about 2500 miles later,
Moss sent a bulletin to everyone who had bought one of the 6-bladed fans.
They said to remove it immediately and send it back for a gift certificate
worth $125. When I removed the second fan, I saw that it had paint chips in
the blade roots exactly where the first fan blades had broken off.
I replaced the second fan with a Texas Kooler (bought from the North Texas
AHC) and have had no problems with it in 8 years and 60K miles.
The experience taught me whenever I'm standing to the side of a running
engine, NEVER stand in the plane of the fan.

You are very lucky. A former coworker of mine opened the hood of a Chevy
truck to look at a rough running condition (he was a Chevy tech at the
time). He reached in and gave it a bit of throttle. The fan came apart the
blade flew up hit him in the mouth and took out almost all of his teeth.
