Too many letters and the letter M was already accepted as meaning "Modified"
in respect to the Jaguars and other marques.

If the "S" in 100S is for Sebring and the "MM" in the 100-6 MM was for Mille
Miglia, how come it wasn't the 100 LM?

I heard the same story as Gary from John Wheatley. John gave a friend of mine
one of the original rough castings from the jeweler that had never been
polished for his M project. That was all circa 1984....

It's my understanding from Gerry Coker that the M with wires on the sides so
that it could be wired around the notch in the 100 flash was first made up by
a local jeweler in Warwick and was given by Donald to customers who had just
had their BN1s upgraded to Le Mans specs at his shop in Warwick. (though It
isn't listed as one of the elements in the Le Mans modification kit). When
the
cars began to be sold from the factory, after having been modified by DMH,
they also got the little M fastened on.

You're absolutlely right, Gary. The "M" designation isn't mentioned.

The leaflet is for an "A-H 100 with 'LeMans' modifications".

Did the on again- off again letter "M" on the grille badge first appear on
the
Earls Court BN2 ?
