If the fuel line was covered with wooden clothespins I could see how they
might act as insulators, but I don't see how a few would make much
difference.

my father used to use wooden clothespins on the fuel line on our 48 Mercury in
the summer to prevent vapor lock. i had always thought this was just one of
those weird things my dad did, but maybe there is some validity to it.
