[Healeys] over heat + misfire

I have/had the same problem with my BN1. First off I pop the
"hood"/"bonnet" so the hot air gets a place to exit, second I installed a new radiator
fan I got from David Nock at British Car Specialists and that really helps
with the moving of air, (No Financial Interest, it just works and was easy
to install) and third, I installed a Marine Bilge Fan next to my radiator
that sucks cool air from the outside and then blows it directly on to the
front carburetor float bowl. Since the heat shield doesn't protect the front
float bowl in any way and it seems it was boiling the gasoline making the
backfire and vapor lock, the cool air blowing right on it helps greatly. I
still get hot, but the car keeps running smoothly and once I get moving
again, the temp comes back down and I'm good.
I have an on/off switch in a box I made that fits on my parcel shelf
and whenever I get in traffic, I flip the switch and save the day. I got the
fan off of ebay, it was around twenty dollars if I remember correctly and
was white plastic. I just sealed the ends and painted it with flat black
paint, hooked on the three inch air ducting I got from Lowes and I was ready
to go. I actually use baling wire to keep everything in place and this way,
I didn't have to drill any mounting holes. Best of all, it works great.
If anyone is interested, let me know and I will send you pictures of
where and how I mounted it. You just have to play with the wires to make
sure it's pushing the air in the right direction, but it was an easy fix and I
use it all the time now and it has saved more than one drive!

My BN1 misfires, overheats, and is on the verge of stalling when sitting
in
traffic at idle. I have to continuously pump the accelerator to keep from
stalling. Crossing into Canada takes an hour in traffic at idle. Not a
pretty
scene. Any ideas what to look for?
