Kees forgot to mention the single biggest issue in any Lucas distributor is
wear.
By all means rebuild it yourself.
Just make sure you replace bearings - and regraph to suit your engine.

Lucas Look-alike distributor with several advance curves to choose from. They
are not overly expensive.
