This was forwarded to me:

All,

Once upon a time, when I first joined EMCC, I showed some 8mm movies taken
back in the '50s showing the sports cars of that era.
As one EMCC member said in awe, "There's millions of dollars of sports cars
there!"

Besides Ferraris, Maseratis and the like, the 1954 Austin Healey 100 was one
of the first affordable sports cars that didn't look like a British box.
I had one, and I raced it (SCCA et al). In addition to having fun at the
races, an 8mm camera mounted on the car captured the action.

Some of those films have been converted to DVD, and one of them, which was
taken at the opening day of Bridgehampton Raceway
on Long Island, September 13-14, 1958, is posted on line.

My silver Austin Healey 100 has the number 144 when parked in the pits, and
number 222 during the race.

This film will be the centerpiece of the newly created Bridgehampton Racing
Historical Society (BRCHC) exhibit to be opened in Bridgehampton
later this fall in conjunction with the Bridgehampton Historical Society.
It will also be shown at the next meeting of the Manhattan Sports Car
Driving
and Chowder Society, held monthly at Sardi's Restaurant in NYC.

With apologies to the members of EMCC who have seen it all, here, for the
newer members, is the film:
