Did you mount the engine by the side motor mount location?

Subject: [Healeys] Engine Stands Again
List,
Well, I did purchase a 4 wheel engine stand, but, having got it home and having mounted the 6 cylinder lump, I'm not at all satisfied with my purchase for the following reasons:
1. With the engine upright and sitting so high, it still appears unsafe to use as a rebuild platform.
2. The engine cannot be rotated. The overhung load is so great that, even with the clamping bolt loose, the tube-within-tube mounting point binds. I had to use the assist of a chain hoist to be able to rotate the engine.
3. The wheels on the engine stand are too small in diameter, making it difficult, if not dangerous, to move over even the smallest irregularity or groove in the concrete.
All that said, have any of you found a stand that is stable with the engine upright, moves about a smooth floor easily, and allows rotation of the engine?
Or must this hunk of iron be dealt with in a different manner?
Right now the stand is providing a storage point off the floor. That's all.
TIA,
Ed Woods
