[Healeys] Tachometer Not Working

Jonas -
Are your fuel gauge, heater blower, brake lights, and turn signals working?
If not, check the upper fuse in the fuse block because it powers all of
those and the tach. If the fuel gauge is working, then you should have 12
volts at the green wire to the tach with the ignition switch on. Make sure
the black wire with the ring terminal is securely connected to one of the
tach mounting studs.
Does the plastic block with the white wire loop on the back of the tach have
the small metal u-shaped piece on top of it?
Is the white wire connected securely to the ignition switch? To the coil?
Are your car and your friend's car the same polarity?

Is this a sudden problem, or has it existed for a while? If sudden, have
you done any maintenance on the car recently that might affect the tach?

The ignition warning light sometimes glows at low RPM, but should go out as
the revs go up. If it stays on, then you should check the voltage
regulator. The contact points in the regulator sometimes need a little
polishing to get them working again.

My tach isn't working - it works fine in a friends car.

I do have 12 volts between the terminal on the ignition switch and
ground.

Red ignition light stays on while car is running, apparently is it is
supposed to turn off when the car is running.
