[Healeys] Found Part's Importance

Hi all,
The other day I was rummaging through some old Healey parts boxes and found
the brake master spacers for my BJ8P1.  Since they have not been in place for
the past 20 years without my noticing any problems, I am wondering what use
they were/are and what benefit I would see if I go through the effort of
disturbing the system and installing them?
