Thanks for the info. My float actually is leaking from the very end where 
there is a seam and a mold  injection site, if I said that right.  I can 
drill a hole in the plastic and let the gasoline out, but I was wondering 
what I would use to seal the hole that would be impervious to gasoline. 
Since this will be a spare, which I hope I will never need, I would like to 
try and seal it, if nothing more than for grins.
