[Healeys] French Flashing Lights

I was stationed in France back in the middle 50's. The local villages didn't
have sidewalks so house walls masked the cross traffic. When coming to an
intersection it was impossible to see a car on the intersecting road.
Flashing the headlights illuminated the wall of the houses on the corner so
you could look at the side of the house and see if anyone was approaching
the intersection.

At the time I was there there was also a law in Paris about not blowing your
horn. Flashing lights took the place of horn blowing.

A friend's Renault Dauphine had a switch on a lever on the steering column
to make this easy.
