Of the racing scenes in "On The Beach", 'twas said that: "The racing scenes,
incidentally, were real, filmed at one of the race
tracks in southern California."

I'm not sure what you mean by "real", but those scenes were most definitely
NOT filmed during amateur races. A few scenes showing the start/finish line
were shot in Australia, while the remainder were shot at Riverside using
drivers hired specifically for the movie at $150 a day.
