[Healeys] Rear Knocking noise

Yes, Most likely a loose shock. When they get to the point where you have a
"knock", the mounting holes may now have become oval. Rather than just try to
tighten the old bolts, I would remove them, clean and oil them up and replace
the nuts with new nylocs.
