[Healeys] Fuel bill up in filler pipe

I'm no engineer but it seems to me the length which the filled pipe goes
down into the gas tank should make a difference. If the tank is 3/4 full
but the filler pipe goes below the level of the gas in the tank then we are
going to have some displacement up the filler pipe even at 3/4 full. Now if
one were to make a small lengthwise cut in the filler pipe or hole (below
the rubber gas tank seal) would it not accomplish the same thing as a relief
tube? Then you could fill your tank up a little more (as long as you keep
the level below the vent hole).

Keith, I learned the lesson about same thing MANY
years ago as I had same "experience" <G> !!!

Like Rich said, do NOT fill the tank SO full. Cures
the "fuel expansion due to heat" problem quite
nicely <G> !!!
