Being a member of an ethnic minority (Australian born named Bruce) I take
exception to the very unfunny jokes about all my friends with the same name.

Perhaps the reasons for demise of the Friday Funnies is twofold:
 
1.  They usually weren't very funny, and
2.  They were often attempts at humor told at the expense of some  
population subset whether ethnic, sexual, religious, etc.
 
In any case I have not missed them.
