Not sure that he is mythical in the Heracles or Jason and the Argonauts
kind of way or not but an old friend, Frank Karl, used to bring in
3.54 rears for folks years ago from NZ. He was at that time a pilot,
may still be. He also sold a neat set of Minilite replica wheels to
some folks in Hawaii way back then. Haven't heard anything about Frank
in many, many years....Hope all is well with him.

When I bought my 3.54 rear end it was well over 10 years ago and
Lempert was not yet making them. I don't remember what I ended up
paying. 300-500 dollars.B

I bought mine through a shop in LA (El Segundo) and the source was a
mythical man who was a pilot (as the story was related to me) who would
get these from AU or NZ and bring one or two at a time back to the US
knowing he'd be able to sell them here for a profit.B
