[Healeys] Rear hub seal

Fellow listers,
I recently received two hub seals for the rear wheels from Moss #535-085. They
are not like the originals. They do not have the spring or the metal backing.
Has anyone had any experience using these seals?
Also, I've had a devil of a time removing the old seals. I've got one out but
worked on it for about two hours trying to pry it out with a screw driver. I'm
afraid I might have scored the sealing surfaces. Is there a secret to it that
I'm not aware of?
Any help would be appreciated.
