Do not automatically assume that it was the Pertronix that failed. Unless, 
of course, you open the distributor cap and discover that the Pertronix has 
come apart inside the distributor (Which was the way 99 percent of them 
failed, so I'm told, way back when, due to a batch where the plastic control box 
was badly glued onto the base plate.) However, it shouldn't be much of a 
job to swap the original points back into the system if you have checked 
everything else and have concluded that you're not getting spark. If the 
Pertronix is new to your car, the first thing I'd be looking at is the condition of 
the Rotor and Brush, to see if they are intact and that the rotor is seated 
far enough down on the shaft so that it has adequate clearance with the top 
of the cap (which I learned from experience was one of the ways a good 
Pertronix, badly installed, could fail.)
