[Healeys] steering rocker shaft

The threads on the end of my steering box shaft (part that receives the
washer and nut to hold the steering arm in place) are ruined.

Has anyone had any experience with taking something like this to a machine
shop to have the threads re-chased? Assuming that I would have to lose some
metal and go down a thread size or so.

 

Also, does anyone have a steering box cover (LHD) they would like to sell?
