I guess my questioning his price was not far off.  I figured $8,000 to 
$10,000 but I am not a concours Sprite guy. I raced one for two years in the 
late sixties but it was so far from original that it hardly resembled this 
one. I think I will pass. Thanks to all for the advice, JL
