[Healeys] stator tube assembly

removed the steering wheel to re-build it. On re-assembly the stator tube
assembly would not go all the way in. removed the directional assembly and
tried the stator tube and it went in OK. Added directioanl assembly and still
would not go it. Have tried this three times and when fully assembled the
whole unit will not go all the way in.

Any theories?
