[Healeys] Front Badge

And I wonder how and why "Austin-Healey" morphed into  "Austin Healey".  
 
I've heard it said that this was initially a supplier's  error and someone 
jumped on a cheap deal for a bunch of  badges but doubt that is the true story.  
Does anyone know?
