Hi Charlie, The webbing crosses over on top of all the top bows. It first
attaches to the rear bow (the one with the extra metal strip) from the
underside and wraps around the back, up, and then forward to the next bow
where it then doubles on itself and is slipped in between that clips you are
asking about and the back of the bow. It then just lies on top of the next
forward bow and is wrapped around to the front of the big wooden header where
it is finally tacked. It is suppose to be pulled just so it doesn't sag, but
not very tight. Make sure it will be directly under the two seams that go
along the top for and aft. I have a couple of pictures that may help make it
more clear. You are asking about a U-shaped bow. If you are talking about
the one on third bow back you could probably find one at British Car
Specialists, or Bob Yule, or some other supplier that has used parts. By the
way, that piece screws to the bow on my car. If you are talking about the
large U-shaped piece that secures the rear of the top to the cockpit drain
channel you may not have so easy a time getting one, although Kilmartin may
make it and it too could be ordered from BCS. Hope this helps, George
