What does a typical healey engine weigh?? 4 cyl, 6 cyl??
I'm having a conversation with a guy who's all bent on horse power
verses weight for a corvette engine
I just need the info. to spin him up. Thanks ..

His statements: ( he owns one of these L88 vettes)
Only 2 production 69 vettes were built with ZL1" The L88 427 weighs only
640 lbs with aluminum heads and intake. Only 80 lbs more than your
Healey 6! That's not too much for an extra 400 hp!
I'd be happy to post the crankshaft rod/stroke ratio specs also plus
the rotating mass figures, and the BMEP (brake mean effective
pressure)and of course the bscf (base specific fuel consumption) (Chevy
produces much more power for the fuel it eats, simple physics) if you're
interested. I would do that because I take exception to the Chevy being
a long stroke slow poke, and a gas hog. You must know that the Healey
with extremely long connecting rods struggles to build revolutions and
as with long rod motors (6's in general) has a piston stroke dwell that
lends itself to difficult intake/exhaust events vs. maximum horsepower.
Torque good, tire burning acceleration no.
