[Healeys] Rear shock absorbers and link question

The rear shock absorbers are off my BN2 (20-25 years
off the road) and after a cleanup to remove all the
'protective' crud I was surprised to find them still
filled with oil and functional. I can slowly move the
arm back and forth using a good deal of force, just
like the shop manual describes.

Is there a more precise way to determine if the shocks
need a full rebuild? Or should I have them rebuild
anyway?

Also is the shock link rebuildable? Rubber is worn,
bolts/nuts rusted. Do I just buy new ones? I noticed
the new links are 'welded tubes' not the nicely cast
links.

thanks,

Bert
