[Healeys] Coronet Cream paint formula?

Bill, I recently restored a 1953 MGTD which was "Cream" or "Ivory" , which
were probably other names for Coronet Cream. I went through an exercise in
futility trying the original formulas, without success. The modern paint
bases and pigments are too different to use the old formulas. We had no luck
with several mixed samples. They had a different hue and some had a
fluorescent look to them.

Finally , at the suggestion of the DuPont paint rep, we just got out some
more recent paint chips and matched a chip with what I perceived as the
cream color used. I did have some original paint to compare. We found a
series of color chips used by Chrysler into the late 70s, which were close.
I even remember one called Coronet Cream .

My paint shop then tweaked one of these to what I wanted. I used DuPont
single stage urethane without clear coat , but the same would apply to
acrylic.

Your friend may have more success doing the same with the paint chips of the
brand he is using.
