Well, if you're just asking for Opinions and if your car is stripped
down to the bare chassis and if the chassis needs significant
restoration AND if you're not adamant about keeping the original chassis
(note the list of "ifs") then I would look into swapping the original
for a new Jule chassis. I did and so have numerous other AH owners.
I'm totally glad I did as it proved to be the cost effective way for me.
Just my 2-cents-worth...
Jack

Subject: [Healeys] Frame and Chassis restoration

Hello all and Happy New Year!

I am at the point where it is time to repair the frame and replace
sheet metal chassis parts and find I need the collective wisdom of "The
List".

I went through the archives at Team Net, AHClub USA and my own but
still have questions.

I would like to have my frame and chassis chemically dipped to clean
it and dissolve rusted sheet metal areas.

1. If I have the frame chemically dipped will it remove undercoating,
POR-15, and the mastic that was used to attach the front shroud?
2. I am told the frame will start rusting (surface type) soon after
dipping. I presume a phosphoric acid treatment will minimize this and
allow the steel to wait a few days before it is prime painted. Is
this a correct presumption?
3. I live in San Jose, California (San Francisco Bay Area), does
anyone know of companies in the Bay Area (or Northern California)
that will do the work I need?

Thank you so much and Happy New Year!
John
