Sorry, Gary, perhaps with one less relaxation refreshment I could have 
picked a better example ;-)  How about a wheel bearing going south?  
I've had that happen in a 6 cyl. and it was difficult to hear behind a 
fixed windscreen.  (A lot less expensive, too!)
