With Outlook Express if you "Close" and "Save" the email to your "Drafts" folder you can then highlight the email in the "Drafts" folder and select "Properties" from the "File" menu and it will tell you the size of the email. After that you can just open the email again and continue to add or subtract from it as necessary.
