Hi all;

  Coys auction for Dec 5th at Westminster, London has what is purported to be SMO745 up for sale. http://www.coys.co.uk/auctions/lot.php?auction=71&id=53053
  In the description for Lot 355 it is stated by Coys: "We are delighted to announce that it is now confirmed that the 1958 Austin Healey competition car entered into our True Greats sale on December 5th is a works car campaigned by the factory up until 1960. The car was registered SMO 745 and was the second Healey 3000 to be homologated and subsequently sold onto Don Grimshaw and re-registered as DG 95. "

  I believe this to be an error. As far as I know, SMO745 and DG95 were, and are, two separate cars. One source confirming the separate cars is found in John Baggott's book "Big Healeys In Competition" on page 135-138.

  Also, George Grammer of the Thames Valley Centre Austin Healey Club stated in March, 2004 when he took over as newsletter editor of Top Marque that ... I had my first 3000 in 1968, which was the ex works Pat Moss car, SMO 745. Imagine the huge and somewhat emotional thrill on the Friday of the recent Historic Motorsport Exhibition at Stoneleigh, when John Everard kindly reunited me with this car that I hadnt sat in for some 30 years!

  Can anyone confirm whether or not SMO745 was re-registered as DG95?
