Dan,

Sure, there is a way to get the vent window out without removing any rivets.
After you remove the entire mechanism, which includes the regulator, roll up
window, and then the front channel with the vent window you will need to
remove the two nuts on the pivot bracket, the nut, washers, and spring on the
end of the pivot.  Then you must remove the collar.  Some have said they
tapped the bottom of the pivot lightly and the collar released.  I think I may
have used two screw drivers or an old fashion brake adjusting tool to pry it
down.  Once you have that loose and off you will need to remove the screws and
upper pivot chrome bracket on the vent window frame and the whole vent window
with frame will slide out by tilting the vent window laterally outboard.

I bought all my vent window seals from Martin Macgregor and they fit very
nicely.  At first the large seal that goes around the frame opening seemed a
little like it wanted to pop out of position but I left it in place on the car
with the window closed for about a month or so and now they work well and do
not come out of their tracks when the vent windows are operated.

If your chrome shop will chrome everything together on your windshield pieces
that will save you a lot of headaches.
