I would have that distributor checked out.  Jeff at Advanced Distributors
612-804-5543 did a fabulous job for me on my original BJ8 distributor at a
very reasonable cost.  He does a lot of Lucas work so knows from experience
what usually goes wrong and has all the diagnostic equipment.  He can get
you're the balanced high quality rotor you are after as well.

thanks for info on rotor, will replace tomorrow and see.  have another
problem
along similar lines.  car club member with bj8 has problem with engine
getting
rough and erratic under load.  seems to idle ok but once rpm picks up, it
gets
erratic.  he has new points, rotor, coil, etc., and new cap and wires put on
last summer.  pumps plenty of fuel to carbs.  needle valves were taken out
and
cleaned up even though looked perfect.   any ideas.  TIA    healeymanjim
