[Healeys] Brake Drums and Linings

Thanks for the response, Rudy. I am copying the list because I found out
something extraordinary. After I received your email, I went over to the
garage that I and my daughter have used for some years for things mechanical
on our BJ9's (which are not easy in this day of computerized cars) and not
only did he turn my drums for no charge, he spent quite a bit of time trying
to find a shop that would put new linings on. Mine are bonded and most shops
only will do the riveted ones. Found one in Princeton, NJ who will do it for
$60 each. (He found another in Connecticut but said that they always put
linings on that are too thick.) In the meantime, I ordered new ones (remfg)
from Vicky Brits and will put those on and keep the relined ones for spares.

Joe told me that he has not turned drums in a long time as most cars he
works on now have rotors and they are so thin and so cheap that he just
replaces them. Said it was nice to see that he could still do a good job and
that his lathe worked.

Pays to shop around and remember your local garage. Some of these guys have
been around a long time.

I just checked theYellow Pages and found a brake shop that did my BN4 shoes
many years ago.  Don't know about the drums, but it can't be too difficult
to find.
