[Healeys] brake line clean up

25 years ago and many miles ago when my engine was last out of the car, I
painted the brakelines black. Dumb thing to do. Now that the engine is ready
to go back into the car, I am cleaning things up. I have removed a few of the
forward lines and I plan to use paint stripper on a rag and wipe down the
brake lines that are still in the car.
Should I use a clear lacquer on the bare metal, or will it yellow?
