The filter length is fine, no way it is hitting the frame. I put it all together with a spare adapter I have and the threads for the spin on filter are a bit tighter than the one I got from Sean but mote importantly I used a different oil filter wrench and I hand do to at least one more turn after I thought it was fully right. It just kept moving. I guess I simply didn’t get it right enough at the track. The motor is no worse for wear, clean oil bit I’ll still need to replace a cylinder due to the spark plug ingestion. I’m thinking my problems started with my choice of using a WIX 51516 in place of the Motorcraft Fl400S filters I usually use. They are about 3/4” longer and although it looked like plenty of clearance, maybe the jostling around had the filter hitting the frame.
